For the facilitation and content design of a transcultural workshop with fellows of CrossCulture Programme (CCP) of ifa
1. Background
With its CrossCulture Programme (CCP), ifa – Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen is working in partnership with the Federal Foreign Office to build strong civil society networks between Germany and the rest of the world. Since 2005, more than 1.200 young professionals from the fields of culture, education, science, arts and media have benefited from the opportunities provided by work-related stays either in Germany or in CCP partner countries.
The funding programme is continuously evolving. In recent years, new programme lines and conceptual changes have emerged, and additional regions have been integrated into the portfolio. In 2026, 54-57 fellows are expected to participate, representing 41 countries across Latin America and the Caribbean, West Asia and North Africa, Eastern Partnership countries and Russia, Central, South and Southeast Asia.
The Fellowship Programme 2026 will take place on-site, with only a small number of participants possibly joining remotely). We are looking forward to receiving applications from our CCP Community for the overall facilitation as well as the content and design of the workshop in September. We welcome applications from trainer duos, teams (only CCP alums) or individuals.
2. Goals of the transcultural workshop
Transcultural competences
The workshop will explore how cultural identities evolve, intersect, and influence one another in a globalized world, while fostering respectful and open communication across cultural contexts. Participants will strengthen their transcultural competencies and reflect collectively on both professional and personal experiences. Transcultural learning empowers personal growth and broadens perspectives, empowering individuals to expand their cultural horizons and enhance communication skills. During the workshop, the facilitators will introduce diverse forms of learning, communicating, and interacting, while building trust and creating safe, inclusive space for participants.
Learning Outcomes:
Participants obtain professional knowledge of transcultural relations and engage in dialogue, collaborative activities, and creative reflection to deepen their understanding of transcultural experiences.
Participants receive materials on transcultural communication as a reference for continued work on the topic.
Participants are inspired to develop creative and analytical responses to transcultural themes and questions, which
can later be applied in their professional environments.
Participants strengthen their skills for cross-cultural communication and collaboration, building greater confidence in interacting across cultural contexts.
3. Workshop Deliverables
Development of a detailed workshop plan (procedure, methods) in coordination with CCP Team.
Conceptualizing the topic „Transcultural Communication “, including preparation of thematic inputs and practical exercises as well as networking opportunities.
Facilitation of four-day, full-time workshop.
Preparation of a workshop documentation (Screenshot-Documentation, brief content summary), as well as a final evaluation of workshop with key lessons learnt.
4. Methodology
As much active participation as possible by the participants is desired, for example through surveys, games or the like. While theoretical knowledge may be included, it will not be the main focus; instead, emphasis will be placed on practical engagement of participant’s own experiences. The working language is English.
5. Duration and Time schedule
The workshop from 16 - 19 September 2026 (Check-in on the day before) will take place at Jugendherberge Stuttgart International, Haußmannstr. 27, 70188 Stuttgart https://www.jugendherberge.de/jugendherbergen/stuttgart-international/
In addition, time should be set aside for preparation, an online briefing to organise and discuss content, working and a final online discussion.
